Petition to U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Governors

Ramp up COVID-19 testing and hiring of contact tracers nationwide otherwise 1M+ will die.

Over 80,000 have died in US due to COVID-19 at the time of writing this. More deaths continue even after shelter in place for more than 30 days in most of the states. CDC and WH have provided different models for best and worst case scenarios. This petition is to request significant increase in government organized nationwide effort for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. Centralized effort is necessary as folks move from one state to another so individual state's contact tracing will not be able to make a significant impact unless Federal Government steps up and help states both in terms of resources, support and political willpower needed for each state's effort to work cohesively. South Korea, Australia, New Zealand have successfully contained COVID-19 disease even though disease start was reported in each of these countries around the same time. USA has been lagging in testing and contact tracing from day 1. This petition is to request U.S. House of Representatives, US Senate and President Trump to invest in widespread COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. An estimated 45 billion dollars are needed in this field alone - and it will possibly require ongoing additional funding - if COVID-19 cases continue to rise the way and spread in rest of the population. An estimated 1 million people can die in U.S. alone if this disease as per Tom Frieden ex-CDC Director (https://www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/could-coronavirus-kill-million-americans The time to act is now !! We urgently need widespread accurate COVID-19 testing, prompt isolation of cases and proper contact tracing - all led by teams of trained people - to control the COVID-19 pandemic and thereby allow safe opening of the country. The text and message of this petition has been reviewed and approved by Dr Rakesh Ahuja, MD Bridgewater NJ (USA)
