Video to Watch: "A Warming Web: The Blogosphere and Climate Change"
Published August 27, 2009 @ 05:12PM PT
Once upon a time, I volunteered to organize a discussion about blogging and global warming. Several excellent journo-bloggers agreed to participate. Then, I couldn't actually make it to the meeting in Pittsburgh. So I asked a keen fella to replace me as moderator, and everyone else showed up too, and had a scintillating discussion was had.
Thanks everyone, for carrying on without me in such fine style. Dave says there might be spanking somewhere in there; you're just going to have to watch the whole thing to find out.

Why should I believe this?
There are 30,000 scientists worldwide who say there is no global warming.
All this propaganda is simply for the purpose of further destroying the US and oppressing We The People.

Hi Ruth. I suspect from the latter part of your statement that you're not really here to have a decent conversation.
But I'll play along long enough to out that the 30K signatures, known as the "Oregon Petition," is quite fradulent.
The Sourcewatch wiki has what I've found to be one of the most thorough articles debunking it; that's online at

As for why should you believe "it"...well, global warming is not about belief, really. It's about scientific facts on the ground.
Belief comes in when we talk about how to deal with global warming, not about the phenomenon itself.

Okay, let's just get this straight:
According to such personal information as you've revealed from behind your fake-ola account name, you work for a government natural resources agency.
This means that the government, which is to say taxpayers, cover your salary, your health care, your vacation pay, your pension, your office, computer, printer paper, pens, pencils, and all the other errata of a departmental budget -- everything that allows you to do your work and pay for your needs and wants.
And your employer picks up roughly half the taxes for your gross income.
I, on the other hand, am a freelancer -- a small business owner/person.
The publications I work for pay for my time with money from: venture capitalists, other kinds of investors, a bit of grant money (if they're not-for-profits), and revenues for services such as advertising, subscriptions, or classified ads.
I pay for my own health insurance; vacation time (such as it is); retirement funds (ha ha ha he hee [wipes tears of hysteria from eyes]); double the tax bill for being both my own employer and employee; and all my own research, software, equipment and office expenses.
And **I'm** the one bucking for a socialist utopia?!
