Guest Blogger Recap: Bush guts species protections; Inhofe blows hot air; green tech goes grassroots

Published December 15, 2008 @ 09:31AM PT

Last week brimmed with global warming news -- so all the more gratitude to my three guest bloggers for keeping Stop Global Warming lively while I was on the road for a story:

Edward Humes on the Bush administration's last minute changes to the Endangered Species Act that have removed the science from "scientific assessment" under the keystone enviro protection law -- and spurred a great exchange of views in the comments.

Patrick Di Justo laid a welcome hatchet to the latest hot air from the office of Sen. James Inhofe. Why does Sen. Inhofe continue to promote politics that would keep us dependent on foreign oil,and lagging behind the rest of the world in energy and technology innovation?

Jon Lebkowsky made a great case for just this sort of "politics of innovation" coming up from the grassroots as well as down (hopefully) from the Obama administration. "It will be crowdsourced, and it depends on an orchestration of voices and facilitation of ideas from all corners of the world. Beyond governments, corporations, academia, and other institutions we need, and we can expect, effective grassroots knowledge-gathering and -sharing enabled by social technology."
