Grants for a Clean-Air Future
Published November 03, 2009 @ 06:00AM PT
Last week Secretary of Energy Chu announced the Department of Energy's first $151 million in new "Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E)" grants.
These grants represent an ambitious plan to jump-start the alternative energy sector in a major way. Speaking at the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, Chu said the agency would like to do for the energy industry what Google did for the Internet.
"With ARPA-E," he said, "we are swinging from the heels and trying to hit home runs, not just base hits." While there's something to be said for small ball, this apparently is not the time for it.
DoE is swinging for the fences with innovative ideas like these:
- producing fuel similar to gasoline by harnessing the power of bacteria and sunlight;
- creating "grid-scale energy storage" in an all-liquid metal battery;
- employing sensors and software to allow buildings and their users to operate in energy-efficient tandem.
- developing an industrial carbon-capture technology based on the enzyme that serves that purpose in the human body's respiration system.
Elsewhere in climate-related grantmaking, the Marin Community Foundation has announced a $10 million program, the Marin Carbon Project, dedicated to helping local residents in Marin, California, increase their knowledge of and get active on climate change over the next five years, reports the Foundation Center.
The project will focus in part on reducing vehicle traffic in the county and on working with scientists, ranchers and concerned officials and citizens to increase the health of the rangelands in West Marin, which can sequester large amounts of carbon.
The Marin Carbon Project's goal is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over two million metric tons, which has the same outcome as removing about 326,000 cars from the road. Everybody, apparently, is trying to hit one out of the park.

Thank you for your article. It is hard to start a conversation on "Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E)" grants, with very little known on what does exist. I can only recommend some historical articles and links to what currently exists. As a journalist please research this to the fullest.

I have a little more time to be specific today. The hydrogen fuel cells, solar panels, and most of the other energy sources being developed today are extremely primitive compared to what was developed by Nikola Tesla 80 years ago. This sounds like an extraordinary statement but in thoroughly researching Tesla it becomes evident it is actually an understatement. Tesla was the genius behind an electrical theory that came out of research done in the late 1800s.
Tesla defined, controlled, and used energy that freely moves through our universe to propel a car, light lights, and run electric motors. several names for this energy is, aether energy, zero point energy, and over unity. This energy makes its appearane as, electricity, gravity, magnatism, time, and mass.
Based on sucessful tests done in Colorado Springs, in 1901, working on Long Island at Wardenclyffe, Tesla set to work on construction of a "world telegraphy center". Tesla's claimed that the technology could transmit "unlimited power" by wireless means throughout the world. At the receiving end this electricity could be received "free" by the use of a simple inexpensive device that could virtually be constructed at home. At the word "free" his financier, J.P. Morgan pulled the plug on the project and the money flow came to a halt.
This low frequency transmitter sending energy through the crust of the earth is what our submarines use to communicate today.
To avoid this setback happening again tesla devised small units that could be used at locations of localized power usage. In Buffalo A unit 2 feet by 1 foot by 6 inches powered a 1931 Pierce Arrow to speeds of 90 miles per hour over an eight day test period running on energy received from the air (vacuum) around us.
At the prospect of making free energy available to the world and (There is a very dangerous side to this much energy being available) these electrical theories were removed from common education. These theories were replaced by the knowledge that, "No one can harness or use lightening or static electricity". That is precisely what Tesla did.

That brings me to the second point. This technology is alive and well in certain circles. Over the last 80 years the Governments of, USA, Russia, Germany and I believe Israel have made advancements on Tesla's work. (remember I said this could be used as a weapon). Papers were found in Germany, after WW2 that showed a design for a saucer shaped craft that influenced gravity and would fly. These plans were shelved for the development of the V1 and V2 rocket projects.
On the domestic side a group of Scientists and Engineers have continued to work on Scalar Electromagnetic wave technology for peaceful purposes. Units have been in existence since the 1930s such as the unit Dr. T Henry Morey invented. http://www.cheniere.org/images/people/moray%20pics.htm
Floyd Sweet invented one in the 70s. http://www.cheniere.org/references/sweetcredentials.htm
At 1,000 watts load draw, the previously 6-lb. device had reduced its weight due to gravity by 90 percent.
Currently renowned physics conceptualist and nuclear engineer Tom Beardon has a device patented and is attempting to bring it to production. It is called the Motionless Electromagnetic Generator (MEG). Information and support can be given at the website, http://www.cheniere.org/
This is the future of energy. We need to finish research and put into production what already exists. The evil side of this technology allready exists. I don't believe that the development of the peaceful use of this technology is going to expand the use of Scalar Electromagnetic waves as a weapon of war. On the contrary, the only thing that can counter SE waves, is a unit tuned to Wave cancel the broadcasted signal.
