Five Videos to Watch This Week

Published March 30, 2009 @ 06:04PM PT

Here are my latest picks of video goodness:

1.

M.I.A.'s 'Paper Planes' makes a kickin' soundtrack to this energy-efficiency video:

Hat tip to Dave Roberts at Gristmill for this great catch

2.

As entertaining as Keith Olbermann is, sometimes I feel he's shooting fish in a barrel with his nightly picks for 'World Person in the World.'

Then again, sometimes the fish swim right into the sights, like Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) here, who believes "adaption to shifts in temperature is not that difficult:"

3.

In this brief TED talk, Saul Griffith unveils the invention his new company Makani Power has been working on: giant kite turbines that create surprising amounts of clean, renewable energy.

4.

Non-profit enviro-group Earthjustice hosts Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius in Denver, Colorado for the forum, "Out of Kansas -- A National Clean Energy Agenda." Governor Sebelius speaks about her stand against new coal-fired power plants in her state and her push for renewable energy alternatives.

5.

Warning: Probably not safe for work (NSFW), as the clip includes mating noises and several utterances of the word "penis."

Green Porno 2: Isabella Rosselini's second series of short films exploring the sexier side of nature premieres on April 1. Here's the teaser:

Green Porno 1 featured procreation among insects. Season 2 will begin "with 'Why Vagina,' a look at biological realities and bespoke animal genitalia. The following five films describe the procreative techniques of well-known ocean-dwellers: a whale, a limpet, a starfish, a barnacle, an anglerfish. Imagining herself as the particular creature, Isabella then transforms into the male of the species and explains in a simple yet engaging dialogue the actual act of species-specific fornication. The costumes, colorful sets and backdrops, as well as the female creatures (all simple paper cut-outs and sculptures) contribute to the playfulness of the films."
