A Coen to Pick with Coal

Published February 26, 2009 @ 08:59PM PT

Here's the latest salvo from the Reality Coalition. Thanks to bringing on board the Coen brothers (of Fargo, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, No Country for Old Men and many other points of fame) to create this ad, it looks like the enviro movement is harnessing the power of humor at last.

Good commercial and important because there's no such thing as clean coal and "clean coal" can only be achieved only if its gases are stored underground. In addition, the commercial is also effective in that it demonstrates clean coal as a faulty air freshener while in reality, clean coal acts the same way. To ensure that correct information is in the media, there should be commercials that poke fun at cars with an MPG lower than 50 because cars must be better than 49 MPG.

  3. This is a great commercial to pass along to friends and family who actually believe the oxymoron "clean coal"
